Many people wish to reduce their weight, and this is a positive goal. However, setting strict deadlines such as losing weight within one month, six months, or even one year is often unrealistic. Instead, we should first understand how long it took for the weight to accumulate. Did it develop within a year, or gradually over ten years? In most cases, every kilogram is gained little by little over time. Therefore, weight loss should not be forced through unrealistic expectations. When we begin consistent training and healthy movement, weight reduction naturally becomes a side effect of improved overall health. True fitness should begin gradually, progressing step by step. It is not something that happens overnight. Fitness is a lifelong journey that requires patience, discipline, and consistency. Our first responsibility is to ensure that all the organs in our body are functioning properly. We must care for the body in a way that keeps every joint, every movement, and every system working harmoniously. When the body’s joints, hands, and feet move freely and function well, it is a sign of true health. When the body becomes healthy, balanced, and strong, weight loss will follow naturally. The goal should not simply be to lose weight, but to build a healthy body that can serve us well throughout our entire life. Do not chase weight loss. Build health, and weight loss will follow naturally. © Aasan Dharmaraj – Founder, The God’s Warrior Traditional School of Yoga & Martial Arts. All Rights Reserved.
Nutrition
Vitamin D, Sunlight, and Natural Living – A Traditional Perspective Many students today ask why people living in other countries often suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. The common reason given is the lack of sufficient sunlight due to climate and lifestyle. While this is true to an extent, the deeper understanding lies in how human beings adapt to nature. Wherever we live, the human body has the natural ability to adapt to the environment. Problems arise not because of nature, but because we move away from natural living. If we practice regularly in a natural way, align our lifestyle with nature, and respect traditional practices, many health issues will not arise. More importantly, we must follow three key principles: 1. Regional – Eat and live according to the place where you live 2. Seasonal – Follow seasonal food habits and routines 3. Original (Traditional) – Respect traditional food and lifestyle practices When these three are followed consistently, the body naturally becomes strong and balanced. We should also change the modern mindset of constantly calculating food in terms of protein, vitamins, and minerals. Food alone is not the problem. What truly matters is: • The body’s capacity to convert food into energy • The body’s ability to preserve and utilize that energy properly If the digestive system, metabolism, and internal balance are strong, whatever simple natural food we eat will nourish the body effectively. Therefore, focus more on natural practice, disciplined lifestyle, proper digestion, and energy preservation, rather than worrying excessively about supplements and nutrients. When the body is trained naturally, it knows how to heal, adapt, and sustain itself. Concept, structure, and methodology developed and preserved by Aasan A. Yoga: The True Path to Strength
Many people believe that strength can only be developed through weight training. However, this is not true. Yoga itself can build tremendous power when practiced correctly. In yoga, there are movements such as jump-through and jump-back. These are not easy techniques. They demand strong core stability, powerful arms, and full-body coordination. Without sufficient strength, these movements simply aren’t possible. During these transitions, you are lifting your entire body weight—often 60–70 kilograms—repeatedly throughout a single session, sometimes 40–50 times or more. This is far beyond ordinary push-ups. It is continuous bodyweight lifting combined with balance, breath control, and awareness. So when people say that strength can only be developed through weight training, it shows they may not yet understand yoga in its true depth. When yoga is practiced properly and systematically, it develops strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, focus, and inner stability—all together. I personally practice martial arts, traditional conditioning methods, and Karalakattai, alongside yoga. I share many of these practices on YouTube for reference. I don’t claim to be the strongest person in the world—I am simply one among many practitioners who have experienced real strength through disciplined practice. Yoga is not just about flexibility, meditation, or relaxation. It is a complete system that develops the entire human body and mind. When understood and practiced in the proper way, yoga builds powerful, resilient, and balanced individuals. ©Aasan A. Silambam
Today, Silambam is often referred to as Porkalai, meaning martial or warrior art. In ancient times, however, it was known as Porthōzhil. In Tamil, Por means war and Thōzhil means work or discipline—indicating that it was not merely combat, but a way of life and a dedicated profession. Terminology may change over time, but true power never changes. At the same time, the beauty of the art must be revealed. It is called an art because it must be performed with grace, precision, and aesthetic harmony. Power and beauty are like the two sides of a coin—both are essential and inseparable. As this is our tradition, we must be deeply conscious of maintaining both aspects in our practice. There is no need to proclaim our art through words. People should understand its depth, discipline, and power through our body language, our actions, and our performance. Our practice itself must speak—showing who we are and how powerful the art truly is… ©️ Aasan A.
